How to categorize a humble abode
First things first, thanks for dropping by this personal blog, this may be subjective to my thoughts regarding “How to categorize a humble abode” but as we search the definition of it, it means a home that is simple, lowly, of humble origin.
Well, my Tito’s place (mom’s second cousin) is my perfect sample of a humble abode, because I knew the history of their residence, living from rent, and having their own.
And having a place of your own is honestly one of my dreams, well it goes to everyone’s aspiration.
I totally envy hard-working parents since they set a foundation for their children but as to my family background? Well, let me share my story on a different post ‘coz to know my background is like watching a series of “Maalala mo Kaya” peg.
But anyways, meet Tito Joy – whom I’ve been with since birth since he was one of my dad’s right hand in our business that my family had years ago, namely Singson Trading and SMD Trading.
When we stayed at their place to celebrate New Year’s Eve, I got to take some snapshots of their house, and truly despite its size, you can feel the humble residence vibe at their place.
It’s not that big but it could cater a big gathering to celebrate occasions with loved ones and co-partners in the business.
Like their parking space turned into a space to cater guests.
Meet my second cousins
A terrace that you can hang out with a beer or two, enjoying some fresh air since their street is not that traffic-congested – well it’s not even a public road, to begin with.
The slippers on the photo are like what Japanese do in their house removing your footwear as a sign of respect or simply you know for a fact that their indoor is clean, to begin with.
Tito is also proud with his plant displays at his terrace. And here’s a short video I made in tiktok. (it’s one with the photo in the slide below)
BTW, their place may not be inside a private subdivision but it’s a quiet neighborhood.
I witnessed the conversion of their former small room to an attic version of quarters – maximizing their house with yet a comfortable vibe. So below, is the staircase that leads to it.
Having a small house can be of a challenge in storage yet they get to pull it off by organizing things in a orderly manner.
A house of your own is a place where you can have the freedom to display what you want, like what tito did with this simple corner space of aged liquors.
Tita’s favorite area where their snacks are displayed and it acted like a mini sari-sari store where their kids or anyone who visits can just get something to munch on when hungry.
You’ll just feel that they are a good provider for their kids, not having the worry to be hungry.
There house by the way even has a solar panel so their utility bill is not that high compared to others, investing this kind of equipment has an advantage in the long run.
So if you notice those white box beside the plant, that’s where they could store enough energy gained from the sun. So at least, no need to worry for a power loss in their area.
And oh! Having a bike is a good necessity to have a healthy exercise from time to time.
I may have not listted out directly the characteristics of a humble abode but as you read through it, you got what a mean, did you? 🙂
But to summarize it, a humble abode is a place where one puts a personality in a house and is able to have all the things you need at the comfort of your place.
And despite whatever size a house can be, as long as you feel cozy, it’s a sure win! And even a BONUS if your place is your own, isn’t?
May we all have our own humble abode in the future just like what I feel every time me ang SYsters get to visit them, the hospitality and ambiance is just comforting even for a short stay.
